The Best Places to Work Remotely in Barbados [2026 Update]
Fig Tree Farms Cafe at Nature Care
Updated: March 2026
Remote work in Barbados is no longer a niche. It is part of everyday life.
Whether you are freelancing, running your own business, or working remotely while visiting the island, finding the right place to work matters. This guide brings together the best places to work remotely in Barbados, from beachside cafés with strong wifi to dedicated co-working spaces designed for focus and productivity.
These are the spots where reliable internet, good coffee, and a comfortable atmosphere come together. The kind of places that make your workday feel just a little easier.
I have been curating this list since 2016, and it is currently being updated for 2026 to reflect new openings, closures, and evolving work-friendly policies across the island. If you own or manage a café, restaurant, or co-working space and would like to be included, you can submit your details below.
A quick note on working remotely in Barbados
This should go without saying, but it clearly needs to be said.
Some businesses have asked to be removed from this list after experiencing people occupying tables for hours without ordering anything. Many of these cafés and restaurants were not designed to function as co-working spaces.
If you choose to work from these locations, please support them and order something. Visit during quieter hours if you plan to stay longer. Be mindful of how much space you are taking up, and respectful of staff and other guests.
Remote work only works when it is a fair exchange.
Let’s keep these spaces welcoming for everyone.

Artsplash Cafe is ideal if you're looking for somewhere central to work on the South Coast; it boasts a large, breezy verandah where you can settle down with your laptop and a coffee. You can also sit inside and admire the local art that adorns the walls. The WiFi is good and they also serve healthy food options to keep you fuelled. However, I must warn you that the cafe closes at 4pm during the week and it's really busy with lots of kids on the weekends.
WiFi: Free | Power sockets: A few | Space: Lots of seating available during the day but it is not suggested that you take up a table without buying food | Air-conditioned: No | Location: South Coast

Nothing quite says 'Remote work in the tropics' like parking your laptop on a picnic bench on the beach, shaded under palm trees. The Cruising Club is a members beach club, however you can sign yourself in for the day and access all amenities once you buy food and drink. Don't expect peace and quiet, but this is a lively spot to meet new people and sign up for water related activities and events.
WiFi: Free | Power: Plug sockets available | Space: Large, on the beach, noisy but very relaxed | Air-conditioned: No | Location: South Coast

A Black owned, bustling spot to work! It's actually a cafe, with delicious wraps, waffles, smoothies and Insta worthy shakes. There are always people popping in and out. A great space for smaller meetings and solitary work. Best to make a reservation.
Side note: It can get pretty hot, so dress appropriately.

When people envision working remotely in a tropical island, they probably picture something like this beach bar. "Carib" is a bit of a social icon in Barbados, especially for older generations. The setting is very relaxed, service is friendly. The menu is typical for a beach bar with burgers, sandwiches and snacks, though they have great coffee! Sit under the trees, out on the beach or inside on the patio for a beachy, breezy day at the office.

Happy Days Cafe
Happy Days Cafe is a stalwart of "The Gap" for as long as I can remember. This cute cafe offers serves breakfast, brunch and lunch options, all lovingly prepared by the friendly owner, Nick. The neighbourhood chickens may stop in to say hello, and offer a comical respite from working. You can sit on the patio or in the courtyard under the umbrellas. Power sources are limited, so this option may be best suited for a quick meeting or a couple of hours of work over a quick snack before heading to Dover beach across the street.

Sage Bistro
Wendy knew what she was doing when she curated Sage Bistro; the space is beautiful styled, with various areas to work, have lunch, and sit and chat. It's no secret that Wendy is also a fabulous baker - you HAVE to try her blueberry cake! I'm clearly a fan, but I highly encourage you to consider your next remote work session at Sage.

Starbucks Haggatt Hall
This Starbucks location is a favourite amongst Ross University students, and with limited seating available, you are not likely to find a spot to work. I’m listing it as an option on the off chance that there’s space! The staff is really friendly and the beautiful mural was done by local artists.

Air-conditioned: Yes, and some outdoor seating
Location: Haggat Hall
Surfer's Cafe
Cute, locally run cafe right on the water, with a very beachy, surfer vibe. Great for breakfast/lunch date or meeting new people. Make sure to ask for a spot on the water (There's also a cool area in the back) The only downsides: no plug sockets - power up before you leave home or the office.

The restaurant at South Gap Hotel
The South Gap Hotel has a Miami beach vibe going on. The restaurant overlooks the pool deck and the bright blue sea - don't blame me if you can't focus on your work! It's a very comfortable, breezy and relatively quiet spot to work for the day, with a number of seating options (tables and little lounge areas) and beautiful local art on the walls.

Tower Cafe and Bistro
This spot is unassuming, but quite charming with a great food, snack and coffee selection. They serve fresh juices as well. The only warning is that it can get a bit noisy, so work calls may be a bit challenging. Indoor seating with air conditioning, outdoor seating on a covered terrace.

Open Kitchen
Open Kitchen, a natural go-to for ladies who lunch and business executives, is also an excellent refuge for freelancers. Good coffee, free WiFi, an excellent lunch menu and a great atmosphere make this a great alternative to the office. The only downsides: Not many visible power sockets - power up before you leave home or the office. You should also be considerate of the fact that this is a restaurant and gets busy during the lunch rush, so try not to stay too long and take up space (unless you're buying lunch of course).
WiFi: Free | Power: No visible sockets | Space: Plenty of room first thing but it gets busy with lunch crowd | Air-conditioned: Yes | Location: Millhouse

Regus Welches
Regus Caribbean is part of the international brand and offers fully serviced office spaces, virtual offices, co-working spaces, and meeting room. I can personally vouch for the space and service - it's modern and the Regus team is great. There's locally roasted coffees available (There's a nice fancy coffee machine that can brew anything you want) and the communal spaces have a nice vibe.

Check out their website for the latest pricing and availability.
Splurge Cake Studio
This adorable cafe is an eclectic mix of shabby chic and industrial, with a variety of seating options. The space is noisy and bustling, similar to a Starbucks in any major city. Splurge is known for the decadent cakes, deserts and frozen yoghurt, so make sure to treat yourself! There is a daily lunch menu that caters to various diets. There is a large picnic style table upstairs where you can retreat to if you're looking for more privacy.

Local & Co.
Working in this restored historic building is quite the treat; the lounge area is bustling but not overly busy (My dark, moody photo does not do this place justice!) I recommend going in the morning for coffee and delicious pastries before the lunch crowd arrives. Another option is to go after lunch and finish your work day with a swim and a sundowner.
