About

I'm a Bajan travel bug, geek, foodie, blogger, photography obsessed political postgrad student in love with the world.

I'm not very good at this "About me" thing (it's kind of awkward) so I had some friends help me out. They figured that if they stumbled across my blog they'd ask:

"Who are you and why should we read your blog?"

I'm a half Bajan/half Dutchie island girl who got the travel bug from a very young age.
I grew up in Barbados, studied in England and then Holland and am now back in Barbados writing my thesis as part of  my political MSc at the University of Amsterdam. I started a travel bug blog during my travels in 2010 and loved it so much that I kept it up. Since then Skip to Malou* has developed into a little bit of everything from me to you.

I'm a chatterbox, a water baby and a klutz who loves a good party. I'd probably wear a costume every day of life if it was socially acceptable and have a slight obsession with sailing and all things nautical. I count running late as my daily form of exercise and am somewhat of a sushi connoisseur. I'm a One Young World Ambassador for Barbados and I believe that the Y Gen has a responsibility to make this world a better place. I'm passionate about healthcare, education and harnessing new media to bring about positive change.

If travel, photography and people are your thing, then I think we'd get along.

This blog started as a way for me to update close friends and family during my travels as an alternative to mass emails. It's a personal lifestyle blog; I post photos of people, places and my experiences to let everyone know what I've been up to. I also like to discuss and share ideas on issues, events, talents and everyday things.

This blog is a constant work in progress thanks to my love/hate relationship with HTML. Thanks for stopping by and stay tuned for more updates and surprises by following Skip to Malou*.
